OATS Executive Board

President - Shelly Jones, ATC

Shelly works for Tuality Heathcare in Hillsboro, and splits her time between an outpatient sports rehabilitation clinic and Century High School, where she has been their first and only ATC. She graduated from Linfield College. During her years as an athletic trainer she has had notable experiences with the Oregon Ballet Theatre, Professional Indoor Football, Rugby, Nike World Masters Games, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Professional Rodeo, United States Figure Skating, and the Dew Action Sports Tour. She also works closely with the OSAAs wrestling weight management program as an assessor instructor. She has twice been honored with the OATS Outstanding Service Award and also gained the same recognition award from the NWATA.


Vice President – Laura Baker, MS, ATC

Laura works for Sheldon High School in Eugene, where she has served as their ATC for the last 10 years. She graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1994, with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. After volunteering at Juneau-Douglas High School, designing ankle injury prevention programs for basketball athletes, she moved on to graduate school. Laura graduated from the University of Oregon in 1997 with a Master of Science in Exercise and Movement Science. She was a founding member of the Lane Athletic Trainer's Society and served as president for two years. Laura was a member of the OATS Legislative Committee during the time when our current registration legislation was written, aiding in its design and implementation. She has been a frequent BOC examiner as well as a visiting summer sportsmedicine instructor at the University of Oregon. She is currently working with physicians at the new Slocum Orthopedic Center on the development of area-wide concussi
on assessment and management.


Secretary/Treasurer - Jarred Gibson, ATC

Jarred obtained his undergraduate degree from Whitworth College in 1997. After a year in the clinical setting, he moved to Oregon and had a variety of experiences including athletic training at the high school level before returning to school. While attending the University of Oregon for an advanced degree he was the Athletic Trainer at Cottage Grove High School for two years. With a degree in hand Jarred took a job at Cascade College in Portland from 2002-2004. Wanting to move closer to home, Jarred applied and was hired on at Lane Community College as Athletic Trainer and Instructor from 2004- March 2006. Currently, he is the first Athletic Trainer in the history of Northwest Christian College in Eugene. Jarred's involvement with OATS has been staying active with OSAA championship coverage as well as assisting with the 2004 NWATA Symposium held in Seaside.
